Welcome to AOWA Organization

Empowering women and girls is not limited to providing economic opportunities. It also includes increasing their access to knowledge, skills, awareness, and confidence, while creating appropriate opportunities for their constructive participation in their families and communities.

Throughout Islamic history, women have also played important roles in different areas of society. Khadijah (RA) was known as a respected businesswoman and held a significant social and economic position. Aisha (RA) was one of the prominent scholarly figures of the early Islamic period, and many Muslims benefited from her knowledge and narrations. In addition, many women among the early generations of Muslims contributed to education, the transmission of knowledge, and social activities.

These historical examples demonstrate that women’s knowledge, skills, and constructive participation have a long-standing place in Islamic civilization.

Afghanistan Organization Women Arise (AOWA) believes that providing women and girls with appropriate opportunities for education, skills development, and strengthening their capacities can contribute to stronger families and communities. When women and girls have opportunities to develop their abilities, they can make a more meaningful contribution to the progress of their families and society.

Empowering women is, in essence, an investment in the knowledge, capacity, and future of society.
